u <br />1345.02 TNSTALLATION TN NEW DWELLING UNITS. <br />Each dwelling unit, the construction of which is commenced on or after the effective date <br />of this section, (Ordinance 715, passed Navember 21, 1960) shall prior ta the occupation thereof <br />be eguipped with either a properly installed mechanical garbage disposer, which conforms to the <br />specifications set forth in Section 1345.04 or an incinerator, which conforms to the specifications <br />set forth in Section 1345.05. <br />(Ord. 715. Passed 11-21-60.) <br />1345.03 INSTALLATION IN OTHER BUILDINGS. <br />Every building, store roann, club, lodge, home, school, business establishment or place, <br />other than a dwelling unit, the use af which results in the production of garbage, and the <br />construction, remodeling or equipping of which is commenced on or after the effective date of this <br />section (Ordinance 715, passed November 21, 1960), shall priar to occupancy or use thereof be <br />equipped with either a properly installed mechanical garbage disposer which conforms to the <br />speci£?ications set forth in Section 1345.04, or an incinerator which conforms to the specifications <br />set forth in Section 1345.05. <br />(Ord. 715. Passed 11-21-60.) <br />1345.04 REQUIREMENTS FOR MECHANICAL GARDA-GE DISPOSERS. <br />(a) A mechanical garbage disposer shall not be installed or accepted unless it meets all <br />of the following minimum specifications: <br />(1) That it will ogcrate with water flowing into thc grinder and through the sink <br />drain iine; <br />(2) That it wi11 discharge wastes at a reasonably uniform rate, in tt?e fluid form <br />which shall flow readily through an approved standard trap, drain line or <br />foil line, of the type and size required in the present DwelIing House Code <br />of the Municipality, and in a manner which will prevent clogging or <br />stoppage of the drain Iine or sewerage system; <br />(3) That xt shall be of such construction and have such operation characteristics <br />. that at least forty percent of all material discharged from it shall pass a <br />number eight sieve, at least sixty-five percent shall pass a number three <br />sieve, and 100 percent shall pass a one-half inch screen; <br />(4) That it shall be self-scouring, with no fouling surfaces to cause <br />o6jectionable odors; <br />(S) That it shall be free from electrical or mechanical hazards; <br />(6) That it shall be of a type tested, approved and listed by the Underwriters <br />Laboratories, Inc., and the entire installation shall comply in all particufars <br />with the provisions- of the Plumbing and Electrical Codes or the Regional <br />Dwelling House Code of the MunicipaIity, and shall bear evidence of <br />Underwriters Laboratory approval; <br />(7) That it shall be permanently connected to, and drained directly into the <br />sanitary sewerage system, and shall be free from any cross-connection. <br />(b) The final decision as to the suff'iciency of the designs to meet the requirements set <br />forth in this section shall rest with the Buitding Commissioner of the Municipality. <br />1999 Replacement
