53 Tar}?g?Lpj,???aiC anrl inninr>ra?OS'S ] ?t?5 n5 <br />(c) On and after the effective date of this section, (Ordinance 715, passed November <br />21, 1960) each application for a building permit for the construction of a new building or the <br />remodeling of an existing building that is required to install a garbage disposer under this chapter <br />shall state the type of garbage disposer unit to be installed and the supporting plans and <br />specifications shall show the location of such disposal unit. <br />(d) No mechanical garbage disposers shall be installed without first making an <br />application and obtaining a permit therefor from the Building Commissioner. The fee for such <br />permit sha11 be as provided in Chaptez 1309. The application for ihe permit shall contain sucli <br />information as the Building Commissioner shall prescri6e and which will assist hiun in detertnining <br />whether the proposed installation meets the requirements of this chapter. <br />(e) On or after the effective date of this section (Ordinance 715, passed November 21J <br />1964), no person, firm or association shatt install a mechanical garbage disposer in any premises <br />within the Municipality without first securing a permit therefor as herein provided. <br />(Ord. 715. Passed I1-21-60.) <br />1345.05 REQUIREMENTS FOR INCINERA.TORS. <br />No incinerator shall be installed in or upon any premises unless it is either of the gasfired <br />type approved by the American Gas Association under the American Standards Association <br />Approved Requirements for Gas-Firect Incinerators, Z21. 6, 1966, as modified by any later <br />revisions thereof, and bears the A.G.A. Blue Star Seal of Approval, or is of the electric power <br />type approved by Underwriter's Laboratories, Inc., and can consume garbage and other <br />l combustible refuse, by combustion or dehydratian without emitting offensive, noxious or toxic <br />odors, vapors or. gases, and without discharging sparks, ash or other residue into the atmosphere. <br />Such incinerators shall be connected only to masonry or reinforced concrete chimneys. The <br />chimrtey to which an incinerator is connected must be of adequate capacity for the incinerator and <br />other appliances connected thereto and shall have an aggregate cross-sectional area equaI to, or <br />greater than, the combined areas of all vent pipes connected thereto. <br />In addition, the following conditions and requirements shall be observed and shall apply <br />to the installation of all incinerators: <br />(a) The incinerator shall be installed as close as practicable to a chimney and the vent <br />pipe from the incinerator shall be cflnnected directly into a vertical chimney; <br />(b) The incinerator vent pipe shall enter the chimney from six to eight inches below all <br />other connectians to the same chimney; <br />(c) The vent pipe extending from an incinerator to the chimney shall be of a thickness <br />of at least No. 24 U.S. standard gauge galvanized steel, or of material having <br />equivalent or superior corrosion and heat resistant properties and the joints thereof <br />shall be secured by sheet metal screws; copper and aluminum vent pipes are not <br />permitted for this type of installation, nor shall a draft hood be installed in the vent <br />pipe of an incinerator, nor a damper in a flue pipe; <br />(d) The incinerator may be installed as close as desired to a brick, concrete or <br />fire-proof watl but not more than eighteen inches from same and at the same time <br />permit ready access for use and servicing of the unit. A clearance of not less than <br />twelve inches between the sides and back, and any combustible wall, shall be <br />required unless suitable means for protection are employed as listed by <br />Underwriters Laboratories. The incinerator musE be mounted on noncombustible <br />floor material such as brick, concrete or tile. <br />1999 Replacement
