An employee hired prior to July 1 in any year shall <br />for the purposes of computing vacation only be considered to be in <br />his second year of employment on January 1st of the year following <br />his year of employment. <br />An employee hired on or after July i in any year shall for the <br />purposes of computing vacation only be considered to be in his <br />second year of employment on January Ist of the year following the <br />first anniversary of his employment. <br />An employee hired prior to July 1 in any year shall be entitled to <br />three (3) days of vacation in the year of his employment. <br />An employee hired on or after July 1 in any year shall in the year <br />following his employment be entitled to one (1} day of vacation for <br />every two (2) months of employment, not to exceed five (5) total <br />vacation days. Such vacation days shall not accrue until after the <br />employee has worked each two {2) month period. <br />All vacation time shall be credited to an employee on January 1st <br />each year and employees may take their vacation at any time within <br />the calendar year, subject to the approval of the head of t:~e <br />department in which the employee works. <br />Section 24.3. Vacation time will be computed from date of hire. <br />Section 24.4. All vacation time must be taken within the calendar <br />year or it will be forfeited. Employees may make a written request <br />to carry over unused vacation to the Mayor or his designee for <br />consideration. The Mayor shall have final approval to grant a <br />carry-over of vacation leave. <br />Section 24.5 In the event that an employee hired after January 1, <br />1985, voluntarily leaves his or her employment prior to December <br />31st of any year, his or her vacation time for that year shal 1 be <br />prorated pursuant to the following formula: <br />Accrued Vacation Days x Number of Days of the <br />365 Year Already Passed <br />= Vacation Days <br />Earned <br />In the event an employee has already taken more vacation time than <br />that to which his is entitled at the time he gives notice that he <br />is voluntarily terminating his employment, the Village of Mayfield <br />shall have the right to withhold all amounts otherwise owed the <br />employee to the extent necessary to reimburse the Village of <br />Mayfield. <br />Page 27 of 43 <br />
