All permanent full-time employees shall be entitled <br />for each complete eighty (80) hours of service to sick leave of <br />four and six-tenths (4-6/10) hours with pay not to exceed one <br />hundred twenty {120) hours. Employees may use sick leave with the <br />approval of their department head for absence due to illness, <br />injury, exposure to contagious disease and illness in the immediate <br />family. The head of each department shall require their respective <br />employees to furnish a written signed certificate to justify the <br />use of any sick leave taken. At the discretion of the depar'.snent <br />head, or anytime an absence due to illness exceeds three (3} days, <br />a statement certifying the nature of the illness from a licensed <br />physician shall be required to justify the use of sick leave. <br />Falsification of either a written statement or a physician's <br />certificate shall be grounds for disciplinary action including <br />dismissal. No sick leave may be granted upon or after retirement or <br />termination of employment. <br />Section 30.2. Any permanent full-time employee who, at the end of <br />their first cull calendar year of service to iKayfieid Village, has <br />an accumulation of forty-five (45) days, unused sick leave and who, <br />during the same calendar year, has not used any of the sic:s days <br />earned during that year shall be compensated at the end of the <br />calendar year the equivalent of five (5) days pay without having <br />any days deducted from accumulated but unused sick leave. Sick <br />leave accumulation lawfully transferred from prior pubic employees <br />shall be included for purposes of this section. If under the <br />foregoing circumstances, the employee has used one {1) earned sick <br />day, during the calendar year, then said employee shall be <br />compensated at the end of the year for four {4) days pay without <br />having any of said days deducted from accumulated but unused sick <br />leave. If, under the foregoing circumstances, the employee has used <br />two (2) earned sick days, during the calendar year, then said <br />employee shall be compensated at the end of the year for three (3) <br />days, pay without having any of said days deducted from accumulated <br />but unused sick leave. If, under the foregoing circumstances, the <br />employee has used three (3) earned days, during the calendar year, <br />then said employee shall be compensated at the end of the year for <br />two (2) days pay without having any said days deducted from <br />accumulated but unused sick leave. If, under the foregoing <br />circumstances, the employee has used four (4) earned days, during <br />the calendar year, then said employee shall be compensated at the <br />end of the year for one (1) day, pay without having any of said <br />days deducted from accumulated but unused sick leave. <br />Page 33 of 43 <br />
