Loca126I9 <br />additional compensation time allowed an employee who works a holiday or has their normal day off <br />on a holiday. <br />Section 22.2. Retention of Sick Leave. An employee who transfers from another public agency <br />to Mayfield Village, who has prior service with a public agency in Ohio, shall retain credit for any <br />sick leave earned so long as he is employed by Mayfield Village, except that deduction shall be <br />made for any payment or credit given by the previous agency in lieu of taking sick leave. The <br />previously accumulated sick leave of an employee who has been separated from the public service <br />shall be placed on his credit upon his re-employment with Mayfield Village, provided that such <br />re-employment takes place within ten (10) years of the date on which the employee was last <br />terminated from public service. <br />Section 22.3. Charsing of Sick Leave. Sick leave shall be charged in minimum units of one (1) <br />hour. An employee shall be charged for sick leave only for days upon which he would otherwise <br />have been scheduled to work. <br />Section 22.4. Uses of Sick Leave. Sick leave shall be granted to an employee upon approval of the <br />Employer for the following reasons: <br />1. Illness or injury to the employee; <br />2. Illness or injury of a member of the employee's immediate family where it <br />is necessary for the employee to be absent from work; <br />3. Medical, dental, optical exaniination or treatment of the employee which <br />cannot be scheduled during non-work hours; <br />4. If a member of the immediate family residing with the employee is infected <br />with a contagious disease and, through exposure to a contagious disease, <br />the presence of the employee at his job would jeopardize the health of <br />others; and <br />5. Pregnancy and/or childbirth and other conditions related thereto. <br />Section 22.5. For the purpose of this Article, immediate family is defined to only include the <br />employee's spouse, children, dependents who reside with the employee, parents, parents-in-law <br />and individuals for whom the employee serves as legal guardian. <br />Section 22.6. Evidence Required for Sick Leave Usage. Employees may use sick leave with <br />the approval of their department head for absence due to illness, injury, exposure to contagious <br />disease and illness in the immediate family. At the discretion of the department head or the <br />Mayor/Safety Director, or anytime absence due to illness exceeds one tour, a statement certifying <br />the nature of the illness from a licensed physician shall be required to justify the use of sick leave. <br />Falsification of either a written statement or a physician's certificate shall be grounds for <br />disciplinary, action including dismissal.
