<br />EQUIPIVIENT:
<br />Equipment Essential to the Job: Ohio Fire Code, NFPA Life Safety Code, Mayfield Village
<br />Municipal Code, uniform building codes, professional journals, mobile radio, portable radios,
<br />motorized fire apparatus, fire equipment and appliances, motorized emergency medical services
<br />apparatus, emergency medical services equipment and appliances, blueprints, fax machine,
<br />telephone, light vehicles, calculator, employee benefits manual, firefighting reference text, fire
<br />pre-plans, and water distribution maps, departmental computers, tablets, and cellular devices and
<br />mainframe based programs, word processing, spreadsheet, database, and computer calendar
<br />software; computer printer, U.L. listed appliances and equipment, OSHA regulations, fire
<br />department equipment manuals. All applicable Ohio Administrative Code and Oliio Revised
<br />Code provisions, all applicable Ordinances of Mayfield Village, and the Charter of Mayfield
<br />Village.
<br />PHYSICAL AND ENVIR®NIVIENTAL CHARACTERISTICS:
<br />Required Physical Activities: Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling,
<br />reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, palpating, grasping, talking, hearing,
<br />repetitive motions.
<br />Physical Characteristics of Work: Normal working conditions of sedentary work requiring
<br />exertion up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or
<br />constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. While this is the normal capacity
<br />of the Chief Fire Officer, the possibility of the Fire Chief being involved with Structural Fire
<br />Fighting Operations is possible and evident at any time. Working in austere conditions including
<br />but not limited to extreme temperature differentials, extreme weather conditions, entering
<br />atmospheres Immediately Dangerous to Life and Health (IDLH), IDLH environments may
<br />include but are not limited to structure fires, wild-land fires, confined spaces, structural
<br />collapses, natural disasters, post explosion areas, wearing and utilizing restrictive protective
<br />clothing, utilization of aSelf-Contained Breathing Apparatus, Self-Contained Underwater
<br />Breathing Apparatus, Confined Space Breathing Apparatus, and The Essential Fire Fighting Job
<br />Functions Outlined by NFPA 1582.
<br />EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS:
<br />Education and Experience:
<br />"Possession of a Bachelor Degree in Fire Science is the recommended standard in accordance with The
<br />National Fire Academy and The Federal Emergency Management Agency.
