After some discussion, ~Ir. Wli.ting asked that we submit new <br />bid sheets to the gas stations for their current prices and ask -them to do so <br />on a competitive basis. 1~Ir. Swanson felt that, if the bids were equal, <br />the business should be apportioned equally among local gas stations. <br />It was moved by NIr. Strater, seconded by llr. Oatess, that we re- <br />submit these bids to the two gas stations in such a way that they thoroughly <br />understood what they wei~°e bidding on. <br />Roll Call: Ayes - Messrs Ssanson,Strater,Whiting,Beard & Oatess. <br />Nays - None. <br />Motion carried <br />Mr. Herb Leppelrneier stated that they had asked many times to have <br />the phones removed from the gas st~.tion aa-ith no action taken. He said <br />thatjhis father had been asked to leave the Fire Department because he failed <br />to attend the required number of meetings. Mayor Endress spoke very strongly <br />on this matter and stated that I•~r. Leppelrneier pad been one of our most <br />dependable men in times of emergency and that he could not understand the <br />Fire Department not wanting a man who had been available all during the day <br />when most of the firemen were away at work. I".iayor Lndress spoke of the many <br />times that Mr. Leppelrneier had been first at a fire and was probably the only <br />man available at the time. Mayor Endress felt that the situation would <br />bear investigation. _ <br />It was moved by Mr. Strater, seconded by Mr. Whiting, that we have <br />trae phones removed from Mr. Leppelmei-er' s gas station and refer the matter <br />of Mr. Leppelrneier°s resignation to the-safety committee for study. <br />Roll Call: Ayes - Messrs Swanson,Strater,Whiting,Beard ~ Oatess. <br />Nays - None. <br />NIotion carried <br />N~.r. Edelman notified Council that the County had submitted the usual <br />ordinance requesting consent of the village for improvement of County Roads <br />within the Village. T`7r. Oa-tess then introduced Ordinance No. 500 entitled <br />"An ordinance giving consent of the Village of Mayfield to the maintenance <br />and repair of certain roads within the Village", which ordinance was, read <br />to Councils It was moved by Mr. Swanson, seconded by l~r.
