Roll Ca11a Ayes -Messrs Swanson,Strater,Taylor,UThiting,Beard & Oatess. <br />Nays -None. ~ NIotion carried <br />N4ayor Endress then asked for a report on..the resurfacing of Worton <br />Park Drive. Otar Engineer reported that pursuant to the published advertisement, <br />bids were received at noon on May 13, and opened immediately with the following <br />results. <br />,Contractor Amount <br />O'Neil]. Road Construction Inc. v~2,677.7~. <br />Northern Ohio Paving Co. w3, 197.24 <br />Engineers Estimate of Cost X2,975.00 <br />Allowance for Engineering, etc. ~ 325.00 <br />X3,3 <br />Mr. Edelman then verified that the usual checY, of good faith had <br />accompanied the bid. Mi. Swanson then introduced Ordinance No. 505 entitled: <br />r'An Ordinance Authorizing the T'Iayor and Clerk of the Village of T°Iayfield to <br />Enter into a Contract with O'Neill Road Construction, Inc. for the Resurfacing <br />and. Ditching of the Medicated Portion of T~dorton Park Driver' ~, which ordinance <br />was read to Council. <br />It tiras~ moved by 1`Zr. Oatess, seconded by r'Ir. Taylor, that the rules <br />of law requiring an ordinance_be read on three separate occasions be suspended. <br />Roll Call® Ayes.- Messrs. S~ranson,Strater,Taylor,Whi_ting,Beard & Oatess. <br />. Nays -None. <br />Motion carried <br />Rules suspended <br />It was moved by I~'~r. Beard, seconded by l~Ir: Oatess, that Ordinance <br />No. 505 be approved and passed as read. . <br />Ro11 call: Ayes -Messrs Swanson'Strater,Taylor9~ii.tin.g,Beard & Oatess. <br />Nays -None. <br />Motion carried <br />Mayor Endress then asked for, a report from the Safety Committee. <br />Mr. Whiting, reporting for the Safety Committee reported that .the Safety . <br />Committee had considered a recommendation from our Chief of Police that a <br />second regular policeman would be desi~.~able. The Safety Committee concurred <br />in this, but felt that it should be referred to the Finance Committee for <br />further study. - <br />Mr. k~hiting reported further that the Committee had discussed with <br />A'~r. 'Porter the problem of recompense for firemen ~rhile attending a fire. <br />There being nQ difference between the pay of firemen and officers, i.t was <br />suggested that we follow the Highland Heights set up of X10.00 for the Chief, <br />X5.00 for the officers, and p3®00 for the men. A number of other problems of <br />this nature were developed which led the Safety Committee to feel that a <br />complete survey of the entire department would be desirable in order to <br />determine i.f the Village was in line with other departments in the County, <br />and in reporting such a recommendation, Mir. Ming said that the Safety <br />Corr~~a.ttee would be willing to conduct such a survey if council so desired. <br />Mayor Endress suggested that if the committee was willing, they should. be 3® <br />
