14iayor Stivanson then read a :notice from the election board, giving date of registration and the location of booths in the various municipalities. Pdayor Si~anson reported that the tires on the police car were getting smooth and that it eras dangerous to use the car in this condition and new ones ~rould have to be purchased. Chief Hardman stated that, in vieur of the 21,000 miles nrnv on the Tdercury, and the fact that some repaS.rs would have to be made, in addition to the tires, some thought by given to the purchase of a new car. He stated that for X5.00 and our car a neyr 1949 Ford could be obtained, and .for. X500.00 alzd our car a new I~lercury could be purchased. Illrs. Cass then introduced Ordinance No. 32b entitled, "An Ordinance to Sell the automobile norm used by the Police Department", which ordinance was read to Council. It was moved by Ta1r. _Heiss, seconded by IUIr, Sloan, that the rules of law requiring an ordinance to be road on three separate occasions be suspended. Mayor Swanson then advised that, according to a report from the Police Department, 47 arrests for traffic violations had been made. 29 police calls,_and 4 mutual aid calls and 1 arrest were also reported.
