Chase Drive, said he felt. as Mr .. Sanders did and <br />the Engineer's recommendation would be best as.access from Hwy. 271 <br />exiting on Wilson Mills would have _a direct line for the large trucks. <br />He said if not, t"hiestr~u:ekslwou~id?.behgoing through the residential area <br />of Aintree Park and out on Raliegh causing more traffic conjestion and <br />causing someone to be killed. He said the Off-Street Parking Ordinance <br />5ection~31.14 states .it.unlawful to have access to abutting residential <br />property. He felt the Police Chief should be informed that this would <br />be in violation of the law, and Council as the people's legislator <br />should discuss this with him. <br />Irv Phillips, 6526 Derby Drive, questioned the size of the building. <br />He said if the building is about lA% to large then why can't Heinen's <br />adjust the building to ,the code. How can the Village adjust the code <br />to the parking problem, what was the need to establi.sh~the code in the <br />first place.. -.- ---- <br />Bill Hite of 6515 Chase Drive, said he was in favor of the Heinen <br />facility and felt the approval of the variances resonable and its <br />parking would add to the neighboring businesses parking facilities. <br />He said our concern i.s the traffic congestion only - off of Aintree <br />Park Drive~it would cause an undue burden on .the safety, health and.we <br />welfare of the residents. He said Plan B would prohibit access to <br />Aintree Park Drive. Is it fair to expect a traffic light at Aintree <br />Park Drive and S.O.M. Center before construction begins? He asked the <br />Mayor to correspond with the Police Department and have a policeman <br />at the morning and evening rush hour. They would be in favor if the <br />health, welfare and safty are considered. <br />Mr. Heinen said. the City does not control traffic lights, the State <br />does and he would be willing to pay his share when the need arises. <br />He wants it to~be safe for everyone. <br />Mr. Phillips said he felt the problems 'other than the variances were <br />not concrete enough and once the variances ar.e granted these problems <br />will go by the way side and the blame in the future would be put on <br />past officials... <br />Mr. Hite thanked Mr. Heinen for his comments and. he was in favor of the <br />variances provided no egress and ingress is off of Aintree Park Drive. <br />Mayor Beebe stated that Plan B called for exactly the same things <br />that Mr. Hite mentioned. He said~the Village can apply for signali- <br />zation but the State must authorize it and it takes a long time, <br />several years. He said the signal for Wilson Mills is in the final <br />
