-5-
Village; although, there has been a lakadaisical attitude towards
grades by administrations of the past0 It is going to cost the Village
moneyo The Mayor reviewed the situation quickly: What happened, the
corrections made, those being considered based on frequent discussions
with Mr. Hovancsek, Mr. DmAgostino, and Hickory residents. So far have
come up with two means: 1) build a deep king size trench south of
Metro Park Drive to stop the flow of water comi.ng over £rom Metropolitan
Park; 2) install a new easement between two houses with a grade and
. 1599 pipe at a cost of about $2,000. We do not have regional income
tax which cost us abott $60,000 and agreed double taxation was not wanted;
therefore, we are working on limited funds that will be used to save
, homes that might be washed away during the next flood. The Mayor ccaz-
cluded by showing some photographs and stating the people on Beechers
Brook have an unsurmountable problem. Mr. Hovancsek commented one
easement will go through two properties with a catch basin at the point
where water comes in from Metro Park Drive. The storm sewer pipe will
take the additional 1oad.
Comment from the floor: Mr. Raush, 6728 Hickory Hill, asked about
the stagnant water that permeates through three properties. Mayor
Beebe replied the Board of Health would be out to check the situation
(and odor) again.
Mr. Leech: What chances this would be successful. Mr. Hovancsek: Will
be quite ezfective when completed. Good test woul.d ue a heavy rai.n..
It will reduce volume, but can°t deepen basin because of topography.
Runoff will sti1.1 exist because this is the principal point of entry.
The original thought was to deepen the ditch but it would have very m3ni-
mal effect on water coining through backyards. The other alternative would
be to put a pipe clear through Metro Park Drive but would be.too costly
--about $10,000 to $12,000. Mr. Edelman presented two easements, one
for Mr. & Mrs. Robert Bugoci and one for Mr. & Mrs. William McEnally.
ORD2NANCE 72--27o Mr. Braun, seconded by Mr. Bordonaro, i.ntroduced the
following Ordinance: t'AN ORDINANCE APPROV2NG THE ACCEPTING EASEMENTS
FROM ROBERT & ivIARJOR=E BUGOCI AluD WIZLIANi H. & KATHLEEN W.
