The next meeting of the <br />committee will be riarch 31, 1969. <br />Mr. Shiffer's contract for rubbish pick-up does not espire this year. His service <br />has been very good. <br />The Village advertised for bids for a new police car. The Clerk-Treasurer received <br />one bid from the rlilt I~iiller Pontiac Company for a 1969 four-door Pontiac Sedan <br />at $3,214.40 with a trade-in allowance of $1,600.00 and a bid check for $161.44. <br />Mr. Davis, seconded by Mr. Schmidt, introduced Ordinance No. 69-11, entitled: "An <br />Ordinance Accepting the Bid of the Hilt i~iiller Pontiac, Inc. for the Sale of The <br />Police Automobile to the Village of Mayfield." <br />I-Tr. Schmidt, seconded by I~[r. Davis, moved that the rules of law requiring an <br />Ordinance to be read on three separate occasions be suspended. <br />Ro11 Call: Ayes - I4essrs. Comella, Fitz-Gerald, Bordonaro, Donaldson, Schmidt <br />and Davis. <br />i'Vays - done. Motion Carried. <br />Rules Suspended. <br />Mr. Schmidt, seconded by Mr.Davis, moved that Ordinance No. 69-11 be approved and <br />passed as read. <br />I:oll Call: Ayes - Iviessrs. Comella, Fitz-Gerald, Bordonaro, Donaldson, Schmidt <br />and Davis. <br />Nays - None. 2iotion Carried. <br />Ordinance Passed. <br />rlr. Miller will try to expedite this transaction as soon as possible. Mr. Edelman <br />will prepare a contract for Mr. Miller. <br />Mayor Busa asked I~Ir. D'Agostino to attend the Health and Welfare fleeting. <br />Tiayor Busa asked the chairman of the Safety and Service Committee to report on the <br />status of the hiring of a full-time fireman. <br />Mr. Schmidt reported that he felt that the matter should receive further study by <br />the committee as to the advisability of the number of firemen to hire.. and the <br />possible creation of a Safety Department. <br />Mayor Busa asked to go on public record stating that tae need, as soon as possible, <br />a full-time fireman on duty during the day,to look after the health, welfare and <br />safety of the residents and their property. This man could serve as general main- <br />tenance man and could do station duty. <br />The Mayor asked Chief Hejcl to give his opinion on the capability of the Fire <br />Department Personnel to answer each and every fire call during the day time. The <br />Chief's reply was that they were not ready or available during the working week day <br />(day time), but week ends Caere ~ae11 under control. <br />Mr. Bordonaro stated that, at the previous Safety and Service Aieeting, this subject <br />was thoroughly discussed and t'ne recommendation was made unanimously by the five <br />members present of the six-member committee, the one member being absent, that <br />the matter be presented to Council and voted upon at the next meeting. <br />
