Regular Council Meeting
8/17/87
Page 3
Mr. Pat Caticchio said he asked that an iter.i be placed on the agenda under "New
Business."
Council President Basile noted the item was on the agenda under "Old Business."
Mr. Chuck McNull, 6059 Ridgebury, said that a°fter; the severe storm a couple of
months ago, a sewer-in between his home and a neighbor's had collapsed. fie said
that nothing was being done about it.
Mr. Basile said that Council had intended to discuss that item this evening;
noting that it was included on the agenda under "Old Business."
Mr. Hovancsek said that the Building Department advised him of the problem and
he contacted Hal Whittaker. He located a drawing of the Ridgebury area dating
back to 1925. He tried to see if there were any easements of record. Mayor
Carmen and Council authorized title reports to be done on the:pr:opertie:s to see
if there were any recorded easements. There were none found to date. He said
we have made a sketch of the property and have obtained a preliminary cost
estimate. Mr. Feneli explained that it took nearly a.month to get the title work done.
He said the reason they had to know about the easements was because the Village
cannot enter onto anyones property without an easement. They also must determine
who pays for the work. Mr. Feneli said that Mr. Amendola gave him the names of
the property owners and that he wrote a letter to them today. He asked them
to contact him to set up a meeting to discuss the cost. He said at this time we
do not know who put it in, etc. He understands it has been a considerable length
of time since the incident occurred but that they should receive the letter by
Wednesday or Thursday.
Mr. Hovancsek said he asked Susan to check the records for information pertaining
to this work. After an extensive search (through about 3 years o? records) she
had not found mention of this work. Mr. Hovancsek said that the work had been
completed prior to his emp.loyment with the Village which was in 1969. He believed
the work had been done in the early 60's.
Oath of Office -Councilpersori= Dorothy Buzek - Mr. $asile said he would like to
administer the Oath of Office to Mrs. Dorothy Buzek who is filling Councilman
George Goley's Ward 4 vacancy.
Mr. Basile administered the Oath of Office to Mrs. Dorothy Buzek as Ward 4
Councilperson.
Mr. William Marquardt, 6698 Wildwood Trail, Chairman of the Civil Service Commission,
said that he wrote a letter to Mayor Carmen back in May addressing issues regarding
the Civil Service Commission and has not yet received a response. he said that
these issues must be taken care of in order to establish eligibility lists. He
gave a copy of the letter to Mr. Basile.
Mr. Basile asked the Clerk of Council to make copies of the letter for the Council
and Department Heads.
