120
Mr. Larry Madama, 537 Zorn Lane, said that he is las.ing: his garage because it
is slip ping into the culvert that is between his home and the neighbor's (where
Mrs. Spinney 1 ived.) He said that when he brought this to the Village's
attnetion last year that he was told there nothing the Village could do
about it; that 15 feet was the Village's responsibility, the-rest was his. He
said he was told it was a natural waterway. He talked to Ed Schultz who feels
it is a manmade waterway. He said he found out that there is a"T" in front
of Ed Schultz's house that directs the water underneath the street in the culvert
on his property and it flows between the houses.. Mr. Madama said there is no
easement on his deed for allowing the Village run-off to go through his property.
He said that it is very visible that his garage is separating from his house
and asked what could be done by the Village.
Mr. Hovancsek explained that Burgess & Niple had recently been retained by the
Village to conduct a drainage study. The area that Mr. Madama was referring to
was one of the areas they will be looking at. Mr. Hovancsek explained that
this ditch was part of a plan that was approved many years ago before any homes
were built.
Mr. Petschauer said he understands Mr. Madama's problem and is glad this Council
is making a concerted effort to address the drainage problems in Mayfield Village
rather than making band-aid temporary solutions to problems.
Mr. Flynn asked what could be done in the meantime for Mr. Madama.
Mr. Madama said a section of pipe to get the water past the garage might be of
some help.
Mr. Amendola said we are removing pipe in another area that could be used, however,
it would only last a few years. He will see if it can be used to provide
temporary assistance to Mr. Madama.
CONSIDERATION OF MINUTES
Public Hearing of Council - July 6, 1987 - r4r.
