<br />Special Council Meeting <br />3/4/91 <br />Page Three <br /> <br /> <br />ROLL CALL: AYES: All <br />NAYS: None <br />Motion Carried <br />Resolurion Adopted <br />Contracts for Bands for 1950s Night - Mayor Carmen explained that at this point we have received <br />two contracts for bands for 1950s Night which will be held June 15; Class of '57 -$1,100 and <br />Solid Gold -$500. He said that the restaurants that will be participating in the event have agreed to <br />underwrite the cost of the bands. He said we may have a third band; we are in the process of <br />making final arrangements with them. , <br />Mr. Pietrafese said he talked to Migelito's and they are interested in getting involved. <br />Mayor Cannen said we need to coordinate everyone's spots. <br />Mrs. Mills asked why the vast difference in the amounts charged by the two bands. <br />Mayor Carmen said the "Class of '57" is widely regarded and established as a 50's Band. Bands <br />chazge what they can get. <br />Mayor Carmen said the rain date for 1950s Night will be the following Saturday (June 22.) <br />Mrs. Cinco, seconded by Mr. Ferrante, made a morion to authorize the Mayor and President of <br />Council to sign the contracts for both bands (names and amounts as menrioned above.) <br />ROLL CALL: AYES: All <br />NAYS: None <br />Morion Carried <br />Authorization Given <br />Mr. Rinker said we have some people here this evening with Mr. Tom Silk, an attorney in <br />Cleveland. He said that Mr. Silk was contacted by three residents of Hickory Hill Drive regazding <br />severe flooding problems which they have experienced recendy. <br />Mr. Silk said Council is probably well aware these residents have been suffering from some very <br />severe flooding problems recently which they believe aze attributed to the development in and <br />around the Village. The flooding is terrible; he has been there when it has occurred and has seen <br />the flooding. Other concerns of the property owners are the diminishing of the property values. <br />He is sure Council is aware of the problems they have experienced over the last couple of years. <br />T'hese residents pleas in the past have fallen on deaf ears. No attention was given to their problem, <br />so they contacted his law firm to see if anything could be done. His advice was to take another <br />shot to see what Council would do. His preliminary ideas were to see what could be done to <br />improve the condirions. He has been working with Mr. Ramos who has seen the problem. Mr. <br />Silk said that Mr. Ramos has voluntarily turned over the sewer plans and topographical map for <br />their review. The swale that was originally there was at least fifteen feet wide and two feet deep. <br />Now there is virtually no swale at all and he believes as of right now that something that could be <br />done would be to dig out the swale as it originally was installed. With the upcoming rainy season <br />the residents would like to know what Council intends to do with the problem. If Council says <br />nothing can be done within a reasonable period of time then other measures will have to be <br />addressed. Mr. Silk said they are not here to stand in the way of development in and around the
