S4 <br />Regulaz Council Meeting <br />5/20/91 <br />Page Four <br />Planning and Zoning - Mr. Basile said the commission met Apri16. They considered a special use <br />pernut to operate a business on Wilson Mills Road. They passed items including assigned variance <br />request for Heinen's. Regarding the sign variance request for Holiday Inn, there was a <br />3-3 vote and the motion was not carried to make that recommendarion to Council. Regarding the <br />giome Federal sign variance request, the commission recommended that Council grant it. They <br />also approved the Village Trails site plan. <br />Recrearion - Mr. Pietrafese said the committee met last Wednesday and approved two team benches <br />at Center School. Teams were picked for softball and the program will begin June 10 and run until <br />July 10. At that time, there will be play-off games. Lights for field #1 will be completed by the <br />end of the month. 1VIr. Amendola reported that the illuminating poles aze lined up at the road. He <br />has not heazd when they will be erecting the poles. Discussion was held. Mr. Amendola said if <br />the Recreation Board wants him to get involved he will. He commented that he is concerned about <br />damage to the fields, if the work is done when the ground is not fum. Mr. Fixler in the audience, <br />stated that it only takes 2 days to install the lights. He said he would like to see them plank the <br />field so there is minimal damage to the field. He also commented that sign-up this year for the <br />softball was phenomenal and they need the lights. Mr. Hovancsek said he will contact High Line <br />tomorrow and arrange a meering with Mr. Amendola. Mr. Pietrafese asked if poles could be <br />dollied to the spot because the crane truck is large and heavy. He said they are responsible for <br />putting the field back in good condition. He also expressed thanks to Mr. Amendola for putring <br />the fields in good condition. <br />Mrs. Mills reported that there are 350 children and 200 adults signed up thus faz. There are 50 <br />children signed up for the Summer Playground Program. She said that Mr. Ross will be <br />promoting the July 14 race. <br />Safetv and Service - Mrs. Cinco reported that the committee met on May 6. They recommend that <br />advertisements for bids be placed for street striping early this year. Mr. Hovancsek said that the <br />portion of Wilson Mills Road is the last 1000 feet east of Echo Drive to be resurfaced and he would <br />not recommend holding up the sireet striping until after that work has been completed. Mr. <br />Hovancsek said he is currently preparing the specifications for sireet striping and would like to <br />have authorization to advertise so the bids could be received by the next meeting. The committee <br />also discussed the purchase of items for the Service Department including a chipper in the price of <br />$9900.00. The fire department again brought to our attenrion the diesel exhaust fumes and we <br />would like to include the dial senior program on the next Safety and Service and Caucus agendas. <br />OLD BUSINESS; <br />Morion to anprove sale of the 1989 Ford Crown Victoria (to Victor Gazdak in the amount of <br />$2,405) and to reject all other bids received - Mr. Ferrante, seconded by Mr. Basile made a motion <br />to approve the sale of the police car to Mr. Gazdak in the amount of $2,405 and to reject all other <br />bids received. <br />IZOLL CAI,L: AYES: All <br />NAYS: None Morion Carried <br />Sale Approved
