161 <br />Regular Council Meeting <br />9/16/91 <br />Page Three <br />Ordinance Review Committee - Mr. Rinker said the committee discussed the storm water <br />management ordinance which is on second reading tonight. He said Ordinance 91-31 pertaining to <br />off-street pazking spaces is being reviewed by the Planning and Zoning Commission. <br />Planning?and Zoning Commission - Mr. Pietrafese reported that they met September 9. The <br />Commission recommends that Council deny the height variance requested. The Workshop <br />Meeting date was changed to September 25. The Commission also discussed the extension on the <br />signs proposed for Deacon's and Fisher's Tavern. Mr. Pietrafese said that Mr. Schulte said the <br />Century 21 sign is sitting parallel; the ordinance requires perpendicular. Mr. Amendola has written <br />the letters to Council. The Commission also discussed a special use permit request. <br />Safetx and Service - Mrs. Cinco said the Committee met September 9. They discussed the <br />following: 731 Beta Drive, John.Deere truck, 420 service band frequency, air pack bid, and knox <br />box requirement Replacement of the 1985 ambulance and 1968 pumper needs to be looked at. <br />Mrs. Cinco said the committee also discussed the lack of a crossing guard at Wilson Mills and <br />S.O.M. Center roads and the right-turn lane on Wilson Mills to S.O.M. <br />Chief Stevens reported that his office and John Moore's office have discussed the crossing guard. <br />He thinks there may be a short bus route in lieu of a crossing guazd. He said that Mayor Carmen <br />has directed a crossing guard to be hired. <br />Mrs. Cinco said there is a definite need and hopes this is handled quickly. <br />Recreation - Mr. Pietrafese said the Board met August 21. They deposited $1,000 into the Debbie <br />Hudacko Scholarship Fund. There will be no craft show. There will be a baseball card show <br />October 19 & 20. Mr. Pietrafese said the Board also talked about the playground area (proposed <br />size 36' x 36). They are trying to get more space. The Halloween Party will be held October 26, <br />1-3 p.m. The Recrearion Board voted unanimously not to participate in the haunted maze. The <br />Board also discussed the swim lessons. <br />Mr. Rinker requested that Wiley Park be included on the next Council Caucus agenda. He asked <br />on what basis the Recreation Board rejected the maze. <br />Mr. Pietrafese said the group did not want to participate in it; they felt someone was going to have <br />to man the maze. <br />Mr. Fixler said most members do not have time to run it; they have families. Also, they were not <br />made awaze of the details of it. <br />Mr. Amendola said the front facade for the maze is being painted. The perch for the lookouts has <br />been made. <br />Mr. Fixler said he understood that the haunted maze would be in excess of $4,000 and they did not <br />think it would be fair for the monies to come out of the Recreation fund. <br />Mrs. Mills said if Mayor Carmen was here she thinks he could explain everything. <br />Mr. Rinker suggested Mayor Carmen and the Recreation Board discuss the maze.
