?g
Special Council Meeting -
1/24/94 '
Page 4
Associates prepared a preliminary plan to investigate storing the excavated material on
site. January 21: Tom Cappello met with Mrs. Peirce and Mr. Merkel to discuss options
to the ravine site. January 21: Stephen Hovancsek wrote a letter to the Army Corps of
Engineer in reference to possible conflict--wetland conflict. January 21: The Village
Engineer prepared additional details to help clarify the two (2) proposed site
alternatives. January 22: Mayor Rinker, Joanne Cinco, Larry Flynn, Vince Busa,
Stephen Hovancsek and Thomas Cappello viewed both sites. That's a brief chronology,
Mayor. I may have missed some points in there, but that's basically the chronology that
we had.
Mayor Rinker: Thank you.
Mrs. Cinco: I would like to ask at this time that this report from Mr. Hovancsek be
submitted to our clerk for our minutes. So we have some order to this meeting, I think
Tom--if you'd briefly take any questions from Council. And you can use those maps if
they need further explanation or explanation in the audience. After Council's questions,
I would like to go to the Merkel and the Peirces for their comments, and then we will
come back to Council. Now, does anyone have any questions for Mr. Cappello.
Mr. Fixler: Tom, I had a lengthy conversation with Steve this morning. I don't know if
he made you aware of that conversation or now, but, it had to do with one, two--one or
two locations, perhaps Beta Drive or some other area. Since this morning, has any other
new development come up at all--or is there anything else you can share with us
regarding any new information?
Mr. Cappello: Regarding that, we looked at the 1" = 200 topo and basically looked at
the available sites for a detention basin, and due to the topography and the shallow
storm sewers, it does not seem practical.
Mr. Fixler: When you say practical, do you mean practical from a logistic point of view,
a funding point of view?
Mr. Cappello: As far as the storage point of view, and also, again, you are dealing with
different property owners and basically, that's it.
Mr. Fixler: Well, when you say_ different property owners, can you clarify that?
Mr. Cappello: You'd have to put, according to the proposal, you'd have to put it on
different sites. And then you'd have to detain enough water on those sites to make a
difference and each site would have to have the available amount of fall and also ,
