The contractor, in fact, has to do the work. His
? work may be significantly more than that. This is Forest City Tree Service's work, not
? the work of the actual contractor.
M
Q Mrs. Lynch said part of this work is tree trimming and tie back. She said it has nothing
z to do with money set aside for tree damage, replacement of trees or anything else.
c Mr. Hovancsek said that is another part of the contract where they replace the trees with
4" diameter trees. The removal of the trees is not covered by the $3,000. Neither are the
new trees that are going in.
Mrs. Lynch said according to this, there are only 4 trees that would be removed--unless
the Village has some other information that she does not have.
Mayor Rinker said right now all we have is some very initial information from them.
That is why the contract calls for approval and sign-off by Gil Kostelec so we can see
where and to what extent there is any disagreement on any of these aspects of dealing
with the trees.
Mrs. Lynch said her point is that that is a very small sum of money for the whole thing.
Mayor Rinker said that is not the sum total of what will ultimately potentially be
involved with trees and repair.
Mr. Peto asked when this would all take place. When they had that meeting in October
or November, they said it was going to happen then when the weather was decent.
Now, we have a break in the weather. Why isn't our arborist out there now instead of
when there is snow on all the trees? Two weeks from now we may get another blizzard.
The project has started and they have not even been down there. They were supposed
to be there in November.
Mayor Rinker said their obligation is to handle those trees--one way or another. That's
why we have Gil Kostelec in there. He and Council have dealt with Mr. Kostelec before
and have the utmost respect for his knowledge of the situation. Really, it is to their
advantage to have done as much ahead of time, but whether they have or not, he will be
in there. He is our eyes and our mouthpiece on this thing. Mayor Rinker said he would
