47
Regular Council Meeting
2/21/94
Page Thirteen
tank, or the bringing in the dirt for the Beech Hill holding tank area, we will have a
bond in place that will cover the resurfacing of that road. The removal of the holding
tank is a relatively simple job.
Mr. Peto asked about the asbestos.
?
? Mr. Hovancsek said to his knowledge, there is not asbestos in there.
Q Mr. Peto said the guy from KM&M even said it at the meeting. He said with the
z asbestos they will have to see what the cost is, where they are going to bring it, where
C they are going to truck it out.
G
Mr. Hovancsek said he will be happy to look into it. But, as far as he understands it, the
dome on the tank now is made of aluminum; the rest of the tank is reinforced concrete.
There is no asbestos in reinforced concrete, and to his knowledge there is no bonded
asbestos on the aluminum, but he will certainly check with the Sewer District. There is
a pump in the bottom of the holding tank which pumps the tank out. He does not
know how much of that line is exposed piping. There is a possibility there might be
some wrapping on that, but that is the only thing he would know of. The dome is one
of the many elements of this major contract (Contract H-2.)
Mayor Rinker said the spec work for what is being proposed for the actual dismantling
has not yet been laid out--has it?
Mr. Hovancsek said he believes there is a lump sum removal item for that particular
item.
Mayor Rinker said to the extent there is any health and safety factor, we have the right
to intervene just as we did with the haul routes, correct?
Mr. Hovancsek said he would believe so.
Mayor Rinker said that Mr. Hovancsek needs to follow up on some of these questions
and get back with him. If there is something where we need to intervene at some stage,
he wants to be aware of it, so we don't have any missed opportunities.
Mr. Hovancsek said certainly.
Mr. Flynn said when they get into the section north of Seneca, is there anything they can
do with the profile of the Village ditches. It is quite severe right now and he could see
losing a truck in there.
