52
Regular Council Meeting
2/21/94
Page Eighteen
year and possibly for two years. We don't know the technology available to us at that
time. We are not talking about going out to bid in the spring to replace it. The other
points is, at the time our other snowblower was down for those repairs, that cost of -
- $2,500 was one week rental. She thinks with that in mind $2,900 is a very small risk to
take so that we don't have to rent a piece of equipment for a week.
Mr. Fixler said this piece of equipment is over 16 years old. What is making everyone
believe that this equipment will hold up perfectly well being 16 years old?
Mrs. Cinco said nothing is guarantee. We are taking a risk that these two will carry us
through for a period of time until we can sit back and look at what we need and what
we can afford.
Mayor Rinker said Mr. Fixler's response was his initial response. His recollection last
fall, apart from any of the specifics Mr. Fixler is addressing on this $16,000 piece of
equipment, it was much more a question of do we need to spend a big chunk of change
for a piece of sidewalk machinery when we are trying to prioritize other expenditures.
We had asked Gus, point blank, do you think we can make it through the winter with
the old equipment. This will give us an opportunity to scope out the blower. Mayor
Rinker said looking at the kind of expenditures they have made on an emergency basis,
this is not a lot of money.
Discussion followed.
Mrs. Cinco said Mr. Amendola had talked about a piece of equipment for $4,100; she
wants to make sure Council is voting on a$2,900 piece of equipment tonight.
Mr. Amendola said $2,900 is correct. It is a 1977 Bombardier similar to the ones used in
Highland Heights and Mayfield Heights.
Mr. Busa, seconded by Mr. Basile, made a motion to authorize the expenditure of $2,900
to Alpha Diesel for the purchase of a 1977 Bombardier Snowblower.
ROLL CALL: AYES: All
NAYS: None
Motion Carried
Expenditure Authorized

11
Motion to approve an expenditure of $3,328.04 to Cleveland Water Dept. -(for
fire hydrants)
