That kind of issue should
not be resolved in this room tonight. I think it is simple enough that you, Mayor, and
Council should just take that as a given and work it out, whatever it takes. That is the
solution I think everyone here is looking for.
Members of the audience applauded.
Mrs. Cinco said she wishes input from Council.
Ms. MuMhy, 6808 Hickoxy Hill, said we just moved here from Los Angeles a couple of
months ago. I am concerned about getting out of the area in an emergency. It seems
that you guys have gotten yourselves into a situation that you weren't prepared to get
into financially. If these are your engineering and traffic experts, I am frightened.
Instead of working overtime, get a double shift. If you are talking about the safety
factors, I don't know how you are going to say that that it is going to be equally as much
time to go from Hickory Hill to Wildwood--to get to Hillcrest Hospital. I am looking at
body language here. I am watching people how they are conducting themselves and
their minds have been made up already. It is unfortunate. It seems like we are
spinning wheels and you are getting people upset. We are frustrated that nobody can
do anything. I am sure there have been thousands of phone calls, but if you made
phone calls to Hickory Hill Drive, where was my phone call? As far as illegal mail, give
me a break. Regarding these signs that have been put up, kindergarten people would
direct the traffic a little bit more clearly. Now there is a sign that says "no outlet" in our
area where they are detouring people to go through; well hello.
Mayor Rinker said anyone that is going local, they are directing them in there. Anyone
who is not, they are directing them to turn around.
A resident asked if we have a chance to do anything tonight or not?
Rosemarie Spino, 6751 Metro Park, said I can't understand; years ago they said 1995 or
1996 Highland Road was going to connect all the way down to Richmond Road, they
were going to widen it. SOM Center was supposed to be widened from White Road to
Mayfield Heights. I have not heard anything. It looks like they are putting these big
concrete things pretty close. So we will have to go through all this reconstruction again
in another 2-3 years.
Mr. Cappello said we have contacted O.D.O.T. in terms of widening SOM Center Road.
They do not have it projected in their next 5 year plan, nor in the next plan after that as
far as we can tell.
