236
Regular Council Meeting
9/19/94
Page Four
Mr. Garrett said he called the School Board and made them aware of the situation and
suggested they clean the area up.
Mayor Rinker said he believes that is a good suggestion.
Mr. Garrett said he contacted them by phone (approximately 2 months ago). He spoke
to a subordinate of the Maintenance Supervisor at the High School who said it would be
taken care of. A lot of brush has been removed; the railroad ties are still there.
Mayor Rinker said that may be able to be a joint project between the Village and the
School Board.
Audrey Graham, 6039 RidgeburW - said who do they call for temporary relief? The
creek stinks.
Mayor Rinker asked when was the last time the Sanitary Engineer came by.
Mrs. Graham said about 3-4 weeks ago. She said the stench has gotten worse since the
rocks were dumped in. She asked if it could be chlorinated.
Mr. Hovancsek said the Board of Health is in charge of health problems in sewers,
yards, et cetera. He said she could ask them to do some "resampling" (the proper
terminology) of the stream.
A person in the audience asked if the creek at Wiley Park is the same creek as is on
Ridgebury.
Mayor Rinker said no.
Discussion was held about the possibility of removing the rocks and lining the creek or
chlorinating it.
Mayor IZinker said it sounds plausible, but we often find the cure is worse than the
ailment.
A suggestion was made to put a concrete paved gutter in the creek.
Mr. Hovancsek said something like that would be feasible.
Mr. Garrett asked if there was any way to involve the Army Corps of Engineers--if they
were involved--then, would it not become their problem?
