-- truck over a 6 year period. In the first year a community does not have to
?-" make a payment. This company's interest rate is under 6 percent. I spoke
to Mr. Toth prior to his leaving and he stated this was an excellent
financial option. Consider pro-rating the life expectancy of the proposed
truck over a 20 years. Then the cost per year comes down considerably.
I have given considerable thought to the following questions.
1. This truck will meet the present and future needs of our community
as long as future buildings are not allowed to be taller than 50 feet.
This truck (along with all of our trucks) would have trouble in the
new Village Trail subdivision due to the narrow driveways allowed
in this area.
2. This truck will serve as a first out truck to the industrial park and .
apartments. The Insurance Service of Ohio states Mayfield Village
needs 3000 gallons per minute pumping capacity. This truck would
receive 1/2 pumping credit. Along with our current pumper 611, we
would meet the 3000 gallon per minute requirement.
3. All of our other first line equipment bought since 1978 has been
constructed out of aluminum. By specifying aluminum rust and
corrosion have been minimal. The proposed ladder truck would be
made out of aluminum also. This would save the community money
over the life of the truck. The truck we are replacing is made out of
steel. While it still looks presentable this 1967 truck is rusting out
from the inside out. Rust is found in key areas including the pump
piping, 'L' brackets and compartments.
4. The proposed truck will fit in the current fire station.
5. The proposed ladder truck can be set up by one person in 52 seconds.
This would enhance the productivity of our limited manpower by
getting this vehicle in service quickly during an emergency.
6. This type of apparatus fits our village streets perfectly, it is able
to be driven down every street and cul-de-sac. It would be the same
length as a Mayfield City School bus.
