Regular Council,Meeting
5/17/93
Page Four
Several people in the audience raised their hands.
Mayor Rinker said excellent; he is glad everyone came down. It is just this kind of
feedback that we need. Mayor Rinker said he told Mr. Comella he would throw out on
the table for all of Council to discuss the fact we have had this point raised--the need for
reflectors and that we ought to achieve a way that we can maintain the aesthetics of the
signs. Mayor Rinker said he thinks the challenge is to put reflectors on that everybody
will be satisfied with that will do the job. He is glad Mr. Comella brought neighbors in.
A brief discussion was held.
Mrs. Cinco said she would like to place this item on the Council Caucus agenda. In the
meantime, she will look at the reflectors going down Wilson Mills on her way home. If
Mr. Amendola has ideas, Council would like to see them.
Mr. Ferrante said he is Mr. Comella's Ward Councilman and he never mentioned this to
him; he would like to have had an opportunity to do something about it.
Al DeMarco, 734 Robley Lane, said he and his neighbors have been talking about the
'50s bash. He understands the restaurants will be doing well; but what benefit does
Mayfield Village get out of it?
Mayor Rinker said we have people come to our town, enjoy a good night; there are
refreshments. By promoting the businesses to the extent that we do; he thinks that is
beneficial to our community. He thinks that is an attraction that gives a very positive
image around the area. Overall it develops goodwill and just about anyone in business
can tell you that generates an income down the way.
Mr. DeMarco said he assumes you have Service people etc.; aren't they being paid
overtime.
Mayor Rinker said absolutely. If Mr. DeMarco is talking in terms of pure dollars, he
can't tell you how you calculate at that. If you measure it over time with community
involvement (the High School and residents are involved in this), that to him is a pay-
back of its own.
CONSIDERATION OF MINUTES
Regular Council Meeting - Apri119,1993 - Mr. Basile, seconded by Mr. Fixler, made a
motion to approve the minutes.
