Regular Council Meeting
9/20/93
Page Two
Barbara Lombardo, asked if more of a problem can be anticipated once Progressive
Insurance completes their structure.
Lt. Jay said he feels the problem there will be mostly from the freeway west.
Ivirs. Cinco said this item is on the agenda. Council will be addressing the Progressive
Insurance traffic.
Alma Winkle, 826 Beech Hill Road, said it is a relief to have the sewer project going.
She expressed thanks to all who brought it to fruition over the years. She said she will
be impacted twice by the removal of the pavement, the open-cutting and the removal of
the debris from the holding tank. It is quite a bit for them to have to live with for a year
and a half. (The work is to start in February 1994; the anticipated completion date is
August 1995.) They are also concerned about the gate and does not believe any of the
residents want a permanent gate at the end of the street. The walking bridge will be
taken down. Will another be put back? Many people use the bridge.
Mayor Rinker said that idea was mentioned by a contractor the other night at a meeting.
That was the first time the idea of a permanent bridge was proposed. The indication
from a straw poll taken from the people present was that we are certain the residents in
Beech Hill would not want a permanent bridge. Mayor Rinker said we have set up a
aneeting for next Monday at 7:30 p.m. in fhe Community Room. Representatives from
N.E.O.R.S.D., the Contractor and the Engineer's Office will be there to answer questions.
The issues brought up tonight will be discussed at that meeting. He encourages
everyone to attend the meeting. We need input to make decisions as to the type of
timetable and the route they want the contractor to follow. Mayor Rinker said the
Village has no desire for any permanent bridge.
Mrs. Cinco said she has copies of the flier that was distributed (today) to the residents of
Beech Hill area if anyone would like one.
A resident in the audience asked if Beech Hill will be used for both projects.
Mayor Rinker said the contractor must submit a plan which must be approved by our
Engineer and the Village.
Patsy Mills of ABC Quilts, showed quilts the organization is making for abused
children. The quilts were made by 12 girls from Center School who worked with the
group all summer. They are looking for volunteers. They work every Thursday
morning in the Community Room from about 9:30-11:30. They also need supplies.
