Regular Council Meeting . .
9/20/93
Page Seven
Holland Company, a Division of Ford. It could be purchased for $16,875. He also
indicated we could get $1,000 for our existing snow plow. The Safety and Service
Committee has recommended they will, hopefully, go along with this--but"they have
requested more details on the warranty, durability and versatility of a new machine.
Mr. Fixler said they also discussed the concession trailer. They recommended Gus
continue to look for used one--one between $4-5,000. Chief Mohr indicated the
ambulance was, in a minor accident (at a cost of $2,500.) He also indicated we have a life
pac worth about $900 that is no longer being used because Hillcrest Hospital has
donated a much more upgraded unit for our use. ' Mr. Fixler said they are looking for
suggestions from the Mayor as to whether they should keep the $900 unit or sell it.
Chief Mohr also requested a new vehicle for next year similar to the Blazer the Police
Department purchased this year. He would like to split the cost with Gates Mills (at a
cost of approximately $10,000 per community.) They are looking for more details and
more input from Council and the Mayor. Chief Mohr indicated there will be 3
candidates who will be attending paramedic school. Chief Mohr indicated we are
approaching our 5-year ambulance rotation. Chief Mohr feels our ambulance that is
going to be approaching 5 years is in good condition. Safety and Service recommends
we hold off until next cycle--or perhaps split a cycle. In addition, the parking lots will
be re-siriped allowing for ADA compliance. Chief Mohr indicated he would like to
purchase a generator (approximately 3,500 watts at approximate cost of $800-1,500.)
This would help out during any power outage. It would allow us to run the traffic ligh
at SOM and Wilson Mills. Safety and Service thought it would be a worthwhile
purchase.
Mayor Rinker said he has already put a green light on the generator.
t
Finance Committee - Mr. Flynn said the committee met this evening. They discussed
Upper 40, Highland/SOM and held preliminary discussion on the $100,000 drainage
project at the Recreation/Service Center site. The Committee recommends Council
approve: the additional expenses ($2,500 and $3,723) incurred for the storm and the
1992 audit costs (not to exceed $12,000). The Thornapple water break cosf (Engineer's
estimate of $5,000) - the committee recommends that Council front the money--the
Village will be subsequently reimbursed from the City of Cleveland. Sealcoating and
siriping - they would like to move with the low bidder. Mr. Flynn said the Finance
Director will explain the mechanics of tying the three projects together and financing
them. (Upper 40, Highland/SOM, $100,000 drainage project) The committee
recommends Council approve $2,800 (upon advice of the Service Director and the
Engineer) to repair the Vitale property to take care of the waterway and prevent any
further erosion of his property.
