Regular Council Meeting
10/18/93
Page Ten
Mayor Rinker said no--it is strictly on a temporary basis. Is it necessary to have any
kind of a bridge or structure for vehicular traffic or equipment to go across that creek?
Mr. Hovancsek said he thinks it is necessary for that first few hundred feet that is going
on in that area. Beyond that point he believes they can handle the rest from Beech Hill.
Mayor Rinker asked why it is essential for that first few hundred feet of work.
Mr. Hovancsek said because they have to get their trucks working to get out of there.
You can't back trucks up. You must work from Seneca over; you will have to have it so
you will allow vehicles to go in on way, to load up and get out another way.
Mayor Rinker asked whether or not it could go some point north of Seneca on Beech
Hill. Mr. Hovancsek said not really; the right-of-way is very narrow--there is no room for a
big truck to turn around and go the other way. He feels it would be necessary for the
contractor to have a temporary access over there--but to use it for the entire project
would be another matter.
Mrs. Suit (in the audience) said up unti11988 Beech Hill was 40' wide, then it became 50'
wide--how did that happen?
Mayor Rinker said it was paved in two sections.
Mrs. Leppla said most of Council received in their packet an estimate on overhead
arrows and they discussed that tonight in the Traffic Committee meeting. The cost of
that was around $5,000. It was the consensus of those at the meeting that we would
rather see the money spent on a traffic light at Joyce since most of the traffic would be
directed and turning in left at that point.
Mrs. Cinco said some of these issues we will be dealing with dowrn the road, but the
issue right now is these 2,000 cars.
U212er 40
Mayor Rinker said the last time he spoke with Mr. Merkel he recommended that he and
the Pierces have an individual to propose an alternative to some of the site studies that
we have received to date. Mayor Rinker said he wants to nail this thing down. Mr.
Merkel advised him that he does have a proposal from an individual. Right after this
