Regular Council Meeting
10/18/93
Page Nine
with anything else other than what we had already told him. If anyone on Council has
any suggestions, she suggested they get it to Mayor Rinker.
Mrs. Cinco said one thing that did come out that we should add to our scope is he made
mention the fact that N.O.A.C.A. is a specialist in high-occupancy vehicles. That should
be included. The issue is to reduce the number of vehicles that have to go through the
I-271 / Wilson Mills intersection. His hope was that we could be somehow organized
possibly using church parking lots during the week. Progressive, in turn, would be
responsible for the high-occupancy vehicles.
Mrs. I.eppla said he suggested placing the park-n-rides closer to Progressive.
Discussion was held:
Mayor Rinker said one other entity that showed an interest was R.T.A. so we are
exploring some other options.
Mrs. Suit, in the audience, asked when they get to talk.
Mrs. Cinco said at the first of the meeting-generally during the first part of the agenda
(OPEN PORTTON.) Mrs. Cinco said they are pretty flexible--did she have a question
now?
Mrs. Suit asked (re Beech Hill) whether it is in the Village's purview to stop a temporary
bridge over the footpath.
Mayor Rinker said he would say it is because we are responsible for the overall trraffic
flow. Any indication he has had for this temporary path is strictly to speed up the work
on there. There is no question people don't want a bridge period. He thinks
realistically you have to look to the project work being done. If the alternative is to say
absolutely notlung can be routed around--we have not addressed that point. Part of our
responsibility is to approve or disapprove of the route--the traffic plan. Mayor Rinker
said it is real clear that people do not want any kind of structure across there. He has
not had anybody tell him if you can't do it, that it is going to be an impossibility for
them work around it. He asked if Mr. Hovancsek had any comments.
Mr. Hovancsek said the contractor will have to go through the area; he will have to do
some temporary crossing of the culvert if he goes through that particular zone.
However, to use that as a principle haul road into the overall Beech Hill project is
another issue.
