Council Meeting <br />10/18/93 <br />Page Four <br />Commission on A ing - Mr. Busa said this afternoon the Cuyahoga County Board of <br />Health administered a record number of flu shots (190) to Mayfield Village residents. <br />The Senior Gentry traveled to Malabar Farxns, Kingwood Gardens and Mohican State <br />Park on October 6 for their fall foliage trip. Mrs. Kalina has been working with the <br />Mayfield Schools to have some inter-generational programs. They will be continuing <br />t11e "Getting to Know You" program with fifth graders from Center School in November <br />and January. A choral presentation from Millridge.School will take place December 7 <br />before the regular card session. Wednesday, October 27 at 1 p.m., tiiey will have a <br />program on Alaska. Cards and crafts continue on Tuesday afternoons. Bocce has been <br />discontinued until ressurection of the court has been completed. <br />Safety and Service - Mr. Fixler said the committee did not formally meet, but most of the <br />projects they have been working on are in the hands of the Finance Committee. The <br />restriping and sealing of the parking lots will be taking place later this month. <br />Finance Committee - Mr. Flynn said the committee met this evening. <br />1) They recommend approval of Ordinance No. 93-44 (award of Highland/SOM <br />Intersection Improvement project to A&J.) <br />2) They discussed the B.F.I. contract regarding yard waste. It looks like about 4% <br />across the board for those 3 years. Mr. Hanculak and the Finance Committee looked it <br />over. It seemed to be okay with a few minor questions. They may want to have <br />someone call the representative of B.F.Y. on a couple of items. <br />3) Snow Removal - Regarding residents on file--waiver of form, they feel this is a good <br />point. If the residents have their applications on file and they have already had them <br />notarized, they see no problem in using the same particular forms again. <br />4) Heavy Duty snow plow ($3,120 - Jones Equipment.) They recommend approval. <br />5) Fox Spreader ($5,250 - Jones Equipment.) They recommend approval. <br />6) Softball equipment -$9,000 -(Adler's Sporting Goods.) They recommend approval. <br />The Recreation Board did a good job--although they had $12,000 alloted, they were able <br />to bring it in for $9,000. <br />7) Bombadier Snow Plow- Gus will have to provide a few explanations on some of the <br />breakdown and specifications. We will probably have a subsequent meeting or <br />discussion on it. Mr. Flynn said the Council President may want to bring this up later. <br />8) Transfers of the Ohio Basic Building Code. Mr. Flynn said they have revised their <br />permit fee and Mr. Brett is asking for authorization to spend $400-500 to catch up with <br />their new rules. Also on the SOM/Highland intersection improvement--he would like <br />to have approval of the transfer of $10,000 for that reason. <br />Mr. Flynn said he believes that is it, unless he missed something. <br />Mr. Ferrante asked about Upper 40. <br /> <br /> <br />
