Council Meeting 10/18/93 Page Six
Planning and Zoning = Mr. Basile said.they met and approved that D.O. Summers not
have to put insulation in their building. Mayor Rinker said this Thursday there will be a P&Z Workshop. The May-SOM group
has presented to the Village a proposal requesting building a commercial office building
in the area that is essentially the Howard Schulz property. This is the first step in that
process. Mayor Rinker said he wants to make it clear (and he knows he speaks for all
of Council), that we have gone through a long effort to have rezoning. We have put it
up to a referendum vote. Although the trial judge put.the vote under seal, we presume
it was a favorable vote for the rezoning. This is a matter we have appealed and in no
way are we going to jeopardize our rights. As far as I am concerned, if there is anything
in limbo--it is simply that we are not going to go ahead with commercial development
as long as we maintain our appeal. This is a matter that has to be resolved. This is the
first step being taken and he wants everyone to be aware of it. We are reviewing all
these plans closely and we will make sure we do not compromise our appelate rights.
Recreation - Mrs. Leppla said the Recreation Board is meeting this Wednesday (October 20.) She discussed most of last month's Recreation Meeting at the September meeting..
She reminded everyone that the Recreation Halloween Party is this Saturday, October
23, from 1-2:30 at the Community Room. "Sparkles the Clown" will be there and there
will be cosiume contests. She is sure Wiley Park and the drainage on the softball
diamonds will be discussed more in depth at their next meeting. She will provide an
update on that after the meeting.
Recr.eation Silver Aniversarv Committee - Mrs. Mikula said the history book has been
printed. They will be displaying pictures (many more than are in the history book) at
the Halloween Party. They would appreciate anyone that could identify the
participants from 25 years ago. One thing in conjunction with the history book-the
printer promised to have the history book and the VOICE OF THE VILLAGE ready last
Friday. Come Friday, no history--no VOICE OF THE VILLAGE. Consequently,
everything was backed up.
Mrs. Cinco said she wanted to commend Rita--she just glanced at the history book
tonight--it is excellent.
Mrs. Mikula said it is the whole committee that really did it. She expressed thanks to all
the consultants who worked on it.
Mayor Rinker said the VOICE OF THE VILLAGE and numerous other fliers will be
delivered tomorrow. He said we had to deliver the Recreation flier and the leaf removal
flier ourselves this weekend because of the snafu.
