Special Council Meeting
4/1/96
Page Two
Chief Mohr said the memo he wrote to Council explains the history of this event.
Note: A copy of the memo is attached to the minutes (to provide details.) We had a
purchase order from Panzica in June of 1995. We will save $1,500 by removing the
items from being purchased by Mr. Panzica (because the project manager would not
have gotten a cut.) Chief Mohr said the Finance Director asked us to hold the
purchase order until 1996 because we would not be receiving the appliances until
then. He explairied this [recent quote] is a package deal; we can't exclude the stove.
The kitchen is built and we need the appliances now.
Mrs. Cinco said Safety and Service discussed this at length. The committee
recommended, with a vote of 2-1, to approve the entire package including the stove.
Mr. Marquardt said he is still of the opinion that the stove is extravagant for a fire
station.
A brief discussion was held.
Council President Fixler asked if the company has a guarantee on parts.
Chief Mohr said yes, but he does not have it in writing.
Council President Fixler said he thinks their approval should include the condition
that we get a 15-year parts warranty from Thermidor (in writing.) If not, then we
would reassess.
Mr. Busa, seconded by Mr. Ferrante, made a motion to authorize the expenditure of
$11,410 to B&B Appliance for the purchase of appliances for the new fire station
with the condition that we get a 15-year parts warranty from Thermidor, in writing.
ROLL CALL: AYES: Mr. Buckholtz, Mr. Busa, Mrs. Cinco, Mr. Ferrante,
Mr. Fixler and Dr. Parker
NAYS: Mr. Marquardt
Motion Carried
Expenditure Authorized
Fire Station Painting= Additional expenditure in the amount of $458 to Thomarios
Chief Mohr said the contractor recommends stain because it does not chalk and is
easier to maintain than a high grade of paint.
