( . l", i.'vq tii⢠1 <br />Regular Council Meeting <br />4/15/96 <br />Page 3 ; <br />Commission on Aging - Mr. Busa said Mrs. Kalina sends the following message: <br />She attended the monthly board meeting of Hillcrest Meals-on-Wheels and the bi- <br />monthly meeting for Human Services' directors sponsored by the Cuyahoga County <br />Office on Aging. They are hosting a meeting for Professional in Recreation with <br />Older Persons to finalize plans for our joint senior citizens' party June 30 in the <br />Community Room. This Thursday, weather permitting, bocce gets underway. They <br />will meet at Wiley Park from 1-3 p.m. Wednesday, Apri124 is the trip to Gund <br />Arena and the Western Reserve Historical Society with lunch at Hornblowers. The <br />Anniversary Parts is May 18. Tuesday activities continue to meet as scheduled. <br />Safety and Service - Mrs. Cinco said the committee met April 1st. Most of the <br />agenda was handled at the Special Council meeting that evening. They held <br />discussion on bids for portable radios, the emergency purchase of two police cars <br />(approved that evening). Mrs. Cinco encouraged everyone to read memo regarding <br />the personnel needs for the Police Department from Chief Stevens. This item will <br />be discussed at Caucus. <br />Finance Committee - Mr. Marquardt reported the committee met this evening and <br />recommended approval of the following agenda items (except as noted): <br />1) Fireworks display - (Coyote Rainbow- $7,500) <br />2) Payments for Bond Sale -(Squire, Sanders, Dempsey -$81,750) <br />3) Payments for legal fees -(Squire, Sanders, Dempsey -$6,750) , <br />4) Relocation of Merlin Telephone System -(AT&T -$3,730) <br />5) Repair of Leaf Truck #2 (Mainline Truck and Trailer -$5,945.33) <br />6) Payment for legal fees -(Squire, Sanders, Dempsey -$35,000) Mr. Marquardt <br /> said Mr. Brett had explained this is part of the cost of issuing bonds.) <br />7) Purchase of Portable Radios - Mr. Marquardt said the committee discussed <br /> this and recommends the expenditure be approved to the lowest vendor. <br />8) Discussion of Resolution No. 96-10 - Star Bank as the depository for active <br /> funds. Mr. Marquardt said according to Mr. Brett, this is a better deal than we <br /> are getting; the committee recommends passage. <br />9) Discussion of Resolution No. 96-11 - Mr. Marquardt said this is a complex <br /> issue. Because we are saving monies, we will have to go for low cost loans to <br /> make up for the funding. <br />Hillcrest Council of Councils - Dr. Parker had no report. <br />Historical Societv - Dr. Parker said the Historical Society will be participating in the <br />Arbor Day ceremony (with the Garden Club.) The Historical is celebrating its 20th <br />anniversary.
