Regular Council Meeting
5/20/96
Page.10
A brief discussion was held about the time frame.
Lt. Neyman explained that some of the topsoil has started washing away and if we
wait, certain bushes may not be available.
Mr. Buckholtz asked if there was an alternative to the sandstone.
Lt. Neyman said there are other alternatives--manmade types that would be less.
We may save $2-3,000.
Dr. Parker said that Lt. 1Veyman has done a good job. He feels Council should make
a motion to approve it not to exceed a certain amount.
Council President Fixler said the Village will be buying materials from different
locations. Frate will be doing the labor. He asked what would be done if there is a
problem with a plant dying.
Lt. Neyman since we are buying the materials at wholesale prices, if a plant dies, it
will be our responsibility to replace. He believes we will be faceci with that problem
and will check with the nurseries to see if they will give us any type of guarantee.
Council President Fixler suggested Council make a motion for the entire project--
that it will not exceed $35,000.00, to be broken down as stated in the information
submitted in Chief Mohr's memo of May 17, 1996, to be attached to the minutes as a
permanent record. (He asked the Law Director if one motion was appropriate or if
there should be a separate motion for each phase.)
Mr. Diemert-said one motion will be suFficient to award 8 contracts to 5 vendors for
a total not to exceed $35,000.
The names of all bidders and amounts are included in Chief Mohr's memo of May 17,
1996.
