Regular Council Meeting „ ., .
5/20/96 Page 7
Mr. Carter said we are interested in doing this and there is another who would also
be interested.
Council President Fixler asked the financial arrangement.
Mr. Carter said he would defer to Mr. Walter on that.
Mr. Walter said there are two different arrangements--either a lump sum payment
that could be made up front or a long-term, annual lease payment. We have done
both types with municipalities; it depends on what their preference is. He believes a
lump sum was somewhere between $50-65,000 and annual payments can range
between $6,000 and $12,000 per year. That is on a long-term lease basis (20-35 years)
and typically, with a bump every five years of about 20%.
Council President Fixler asked when they need to know by.
Mr. Walter said the sooner the better. This site has been under consideration for
about two years.
Dr. Parker asked how many potential additions to the antenna they see.
Mr. Walter said he has no idea. That is something the village can regulate through
its permitting process.
Mr. Carter said it will probably be somewhat limited because each of us need that
vertical separation between the other. If we are at 150' on the top, the next level we
would consider would 120', the next level would be 90' and he does not know if
anyone would go much lower than that. The village can regulate that in the lease.
Mr. Diemert said our agreement would require that no one would get on there
without our approval and compensation similar to what Cellular One is paying.
Council President Fixler asked what Richmond Heights received.
Mr. Walter said he believes it was not more than $65,000.
Mr. Carter said the police, fire and service antennas were put on at no charge, so the
lump sum was brought down. It was put up about 4 years ago.
Mr. Buckholtz asked where they would go if we turned them down.
