Regular Council Meeting
5/20/96
Page 8
Mr. Walter said they would probably go to Highland Heights.
Mr. Buckholtz asked if they have ever offered free cellular service to other
communities.
Mr. Walter said no. They will offer the village the right to locate our antennas on
that pole (if we wish) at no charge, but not free cellular service.
Mr. Buckholtz asked if this would be a location we would be planning to do
anything else with.
Council President Fixler said to keep in mind that there are residents northwest of
that site (on Highland Road.)
Mr. Carter said the actual plot they need is roughly 60' x 60'.
Chief Mohr asked about FAA rules.
Mr. Carter said we file all towers with the FAA and they do a study and approve the
height. If it is within the 5 mile limit, it must go through airport zoning. We have
reviewed the airport zoning map and we are under their floor at this point.
Dr. Parker asked where else in the Village they are looking at.
Mr. Walter said Georgian Center.
Council President Fixler said we could do two things: 1) We could wait until the
next Council Meeting (4 weeks from tonight); or, 2) if they cannot wait that long, he
will entertain a motion for a vote this evening.
Mayor Rinker said his request would be for them to present a proposal of the
agreement. The Law Director could look at it and Council could consider it. The
other issue is the dollars--what kind of revenue we could look to.
Mr. Carter said if you vote tonight, what specifically will you vote on?
Council President Fixler said if you are of the mind that you want to go ahead with
this situation of putting in a cellular tower, let's assume we are looking at $12,000 a
year and $65,000 up front.
