Regular Council Meeting
October 21, 1996
Page 7
Parker asked how much money he anticipates putting toward fixing the little truck-will it be worth
it?
Chief Mohr said, in the memo, he expla.ined the master plan as well as the bid comparison. He said
this itern was placed in the 1995 and 1996 budget. Chief Mohr said tabling this would add three
months fo the project. He said they needed this [new] truck this weekend. The little truck stalled
when they pulled out -of the station. When they get the new truck, the little truck would revert back
to a brushfire truck-and not respond to life-threatening emergencies. (Additionally, they cannot
carry the equipment they need on it.) He said they would not put a lot of money into it he estimates
it would cost about $1,500.
Mayor Rinker said he does not expect to have a vote tonight since Council President Fixler is absent.
He suggested everyone read the memo thoroughly (if they haven't had an opportunity to do so
already.) He said a decision has to be forthcoming at the next Council Meeting.
Council President Pro Tem Cinco asked 1Vliss Heath to put this item on the November Caucus
agenda. She said the vote will be taken when Council President Fixler is here.
Mayor Rinker asked if anyone had any questions not addressed in Chief Mohr's memo.
Mr. Busa asked if the delay will-cause additional expense.
Chief Mohr said yes, there will be an additional expense. The cost of the truck went up $4,000 since
October. It would probably go up another $3 - 4,000. He does not see the length of time the bid
quotation is good for in the bid documents. He will contact the company the first thing in the
morning.
Mrs. Cinco said Council President Fixler could call a special emergency meeting to vote on this if
necessary.
Mr. Busa said the majority of the Safety & Service Committee members recommend this. He thinks
Council should save money by not waiting.
Mayor Rinker said we can always call a special meeting. He wants everyone to be comfortable with
this.
A motion to authorize the annual allocation to the Conimission on Aging in the amount of $4,000
Mr. Busa, seconded by Mr. Marquardt, made a motion to authorize the annual allocation to the
Conunission on Aging in the amount of $4,000.
