Special Council Meeting
11-4-6
Page 3
Mr. Ferrante said we have.spent an awful lot of money on the Fire Department and thinks we
have reached a limit.
Mrs. Cinco asked how often the little truck is called out on an average.
CliieflVIohr said we have had verylimited use of response into.thelVIetroparks. . I7sually once or
twice year. It has been localized like leaf fires.
1VIrs. Cinco asked if this is something Willoughby I3'ills could respond to with mutual aid-
would they have the equipment to cover it?
Chief Mohr said their truck is currently out of service. He can't give a true statement-because
every issue is different. When the interpretative center burned, the only truck that got back there
was the little one.
Mr. Busa said he does not feel qualified to outguess the Fire Chief.
1VIr. Buckholtz asked 1VIr.1VIetzung how feas-ible it is for the Service Department to util'ize the old
vehicle to blow out driveway culverts and water plants.
Mr. Metzung said they could use the equipment for those things.
1VIrs. I3e said if this is the piece of equipment the Fire Chief wants, then he feels
we must get rid of the other piece of equipment.
Chief Mohr said he can live with what Mr. Fixler is saying. For the record, there is one piece of
equipment he will come back to Council for. It is called a"Class A foam system". That was a
$6,000 option we took off to maintain our end of the bargain.
Council PresidentFixler said he. does notbelieve any member of Council would quibble over
options. For him, the motion would have to be all-encompassing.
M. Ferrante asked if Council decides to keep the old truck, 612, can't they include a statement
in the motion that says that truck will never be replaced. He said if the oId truck is beneficial-
