Regular Council Meeting
1-25-99
Page 11
Mr. Busa asked when he will get the privilege of seeing the widening of S.O.M. Center Road
plans. He hasn't seen them. He asked if anyone has seen them,
Mayor Rinker said you wouldn't have seen it because we really haven't addressed it--that is why
we are going to have the workshop. This thing is not etched in stone--this is merely an
Engineer's projection of what could be--to provide a source of discussion. We want to get
everyone involved so we are having a workshop. There has been a copy at Village Hall.
Mr. Busa said he didn't know we had it. He had raised the question before about the widening--6
lanes-4 lanes--whatever it is. If plans currently exist, why can't we see them?
Mayor Rinker said he can see them; they are over at Village Hall. He could've seen them for the
past 2 months.
Mr. Busa asked why no one told him and questioned who had seen them.
Mayor Rinker said he and the Council President had seen them.
Mr. Busa said he raised that question at the- last meeting. He said no one verified anything and
he was told we will ad"dress it when it happens--when will it happen?
Mayor Rinker said he doesn't lrnow who told him that we will address it when it happens. On
the contrary, it will not happen for some time and it will not happen until we all agree on plans.
In another report that Mr. Busa was_made aware of because it was stated is that right now all that
is being done is environmental impact studies. He thinks that where Mr. Busa was concerned
(based on the minutes he read) addressed the point that the first order of business will be for the
engineering work and any environmental impact studies to be conducted which is foundational
information--it is going out and getting bare bones information about the lay of the land--the
geology and geography. The actual design is not something that has been finalized. That is. for
the Village and the Council to come up with -with engineering input. The idea of having the
workshop is to make sure that we a11 get on the same page so that we don't have people asking
what is going on and thinking it is just rumor and speculation. What was stated is tha.t anything
we have right now is not etched in stone. He does not know why Mr. Busa has not seen the
plans--they are over there.
Mr. Busa said he did not know we had anything in existence. He does not know anything about
it and he is a Councilman At Large and he can't answer the questions. He does not know what is
happening on S.O.M. Center Road.
Mr.1VIarquardt proposed that we have a presentation of the current state at the next Caucus.
Mayor Rinker encouraged everyone to look at the plans at Village Hall. We should start with the
drawings; the idea is to ha.ve an Engineet present why the Engineers have proposed the design
scheme that they have. We akeady know there will be modifications we must make. From
