Regular Council Meeting
4-19-99
Page 10
and our 1,000 residents--that is a lot of difference. It is not fair to tax people twice. He thinks
the one million dollars from Progressive is an albatross. Mr. Busa said, let's not give the town to
Progressive.
Council President Marquardt explained that pursuant to the Village's agreement with
Progressive, we will charge Progressive employees the same amount that we do our residents
and they will charge our residents the same amount as Progressive employees to use the Fitness
Center. If we don't charge the residents to use it, we will not be able to charge Progressive
employees either.
Mr. Busa said it is a bad agreement. We must live by the terms of the agreement
and see how it goes.
Mr. Buckholtz asked if all the pools in the area charge the residents to use the pools.
Mr. Thomas said he does not know of any Recreation Department or community in the United
States that does not charge a user fee. Regarding non-residents, we are charging 100% more for
them.
Co.uncil President Marquardt said the Progressive issue is closed.
