Regular Council Meeting <br />4-19-99 <br />Page 11 <br /> <br /> <br />Dr. Parker questioned the dollar figure associated with it. <br />Mrs. Cinco said it is included in the text of the ordinance. <br />Council President Marquardt said half the cost will be borne by Gates Mills. <br />Roll Call: AYES: All <br />NAYS: None <br />Motion Carried <br />Ordinance Enacted <br />First Reading of Ordinance No. 99-16, entitled; "An emergency ordinance creating the position <br />of part time building/electrical inspector." Introduced by Mayor Rinker and Council as a Whole. <br />Mr. Busa, seconded by Mrs. Cinco, made a motion to suspend the rules of Council requiring an <br />ordinance to be read on three separate occasions. <br />Roll Call: AYES: All <br />NAYS: None <br />Motion Carried <br />Rules Suspended <br />Mr. Busa, seconded by Mrs: Cinco, made a motion to enact Ordinance No. 99-16. <br />Council President Marquardt asked if there was any discussion. <br />Mr. Fixler said before Mr. Samac came on board we had one person. As the Village grew, we <br />ended up getting a separate Service Director and Building Commissioner. In talking to our <br />Finance Director, it will be about a$40,000 new position, including benefits over the next 18 <br />months. Mr. Fixler said he and the other members of Finance can not see authorizing that <br />expenditure at this point in time. Let's continue on as things are. <br />Mr. Buckholtz said the committee looked at growth, personnel matters and development. The <br />Village has added a new department, there will be some expansion in the Service- Department <br />and there have been many positions created at the pool. We realize Mr. Samac will be in a <br />strained situation. Mr. Buckholtz said Mr. Samac said he would do the best -he can. <br />Mr. Brett said the increase in permits goes along with the square footage of buildings going up. <br />Mr. Busa said he would like to hear from Mr. Samac; he thinks he needs some assistance. <br />Mr. Fixler said when you Iook at the growth of Mayfield Village over the last "x" number of <br />years, you keep referring to May-field Village as a bedroom community with a bunch of buildings <br />in it etc. When we talk abo.ut doing something temporary, it never works out to be temporary. <br />If we are going to create a position like this, it should be done when the next contract is up. He <br />does not think it should be done in the middle or for this kind of dollars. We're spending a lot of <br />money.
