Regular Council Meeting
4-19-99
Page 12
wouldn't have this discussion because no one would jeopardize the safety of anyone in Mayfield
Village. You must ask yourself at what point is enough enough.
Dr. Parker said in the future we could address these needs. The Finance Committee felt Mr.
Samac was capable of handling it.
Mr. Brett said that is a 200,000 foot building.
Mr. Busa read the list of positions in the pool salary ordinance. He said if we are going to hire
all the pool people (on this list) why don't we-hire an inspector.
Mrs. Cinco said Council can control the length of time by including it in the ordinance.
Mr. Fixler said you know how this works; when you come back later.
Mr. Samac said with the Progressive project in addition to the swimming pool and the science
wing building at the High School and the anticipated continual construction at Progressive, his
time is being really stretched out. He had sent a memo and a full report at last month's meeting
where he probably averages at least 4 hours per day at the Progressive site. And-he is spending a
lot of time at the swimming pool. He is getting stretched out. When Progressive built the other
two buildings at the complex, there was part-time help for Gus. He was doing plumbing
inspections for quite a period of time on a part-time basis. There was also a part-time electrical
inspector. He is asking for this now because he is being stretched to a great degree. It will have
a certain amount of impact on the inspection quality. He expects that even though building one
is winding down at this point, building two will be great guns along with the amenities building
and he expects to see building 3 break ground in the near future. We don't have anything defmite
on that yet but it will happen soon.
Mrs. Mills said she didn't receive the memo.
Mr. Samac said it was in the form of a yearly report with permits, etc.
Mr. Fixler said when the other Progressive building was going up, Gus was here by himself
doing both building and service.
Roll Call: AYES: Mr. Busa, Mrs. Cinco, Mrs. Mills, Dr. Parker
NAYS: Mr. Buckholtz, Mr. Fixler, Mr. Marquardt
Motion Carried
Ordinance Enacted
Mrs. Roman said the ordinance passed 4-3 so it takes effect in 30 days.
Mr. Diemert confirmed it will take effect in 30 days.

;
(_
