He wanted to take this
opportunity to thank some people. When he moved here approximately 13 years ago this was a
quaint Village with fabulous potential. He didn't realize the potential was a reality. The amount
of volunteers he has come across never ceases to amaze him. It was the volunteers who
encouraged him to get involved with Recreation (specifically Elliot Ross and Blase Pietrafese).
Once he was on the Recreation Board, those volunteers and people like Norma Basconi and
Blase Pietrafese assisted him in his decision to run for Council. When you look back at all the
magnificent projects that ha.ve been tackYed over the last 13 years and all the cooperative effort
between Council officials, residents and volunteers, he does not think you will find any .
community that could have accomplished so much in such a short period of time. He refers to it as a job because we are
compensated--but the reality is that it isn't a job. You volunteer because you really like it. He,
his wife and his son Michael have truly enjoyed living in Mayfield Village. The decision to
leave is specifically not related to Mayfield Village as a community but they couldn't find certain
situations they were looking for in this community and felt it was time to move on. All of you
have played a very important role in our lives. Whether we agreed or disagreed on issues, the
reality is that all of us together make a difference for the community. Mayor Rinker and I
certainly haven't seen eye to eye in every issue that has come up, however, he pushed him to be a
