Regular Council Meeting <br />5-17-99 <br />Page 8 <br />much better Councilperson than he probably would have been if he wasn't Mayor. It is the <br />challenge of the office and your fellow citizens to get things done in a very expedient, <br />professional fashion. He has learned a great deal from being on Council. He had an opportunity <br />to work with a great legal Department, Donna Roman, Joanne Cinco, Patsy Mills, Wally <br />Ferrante, Bill Buckholtz, Dr. Parker and Bill Marquardt. This is a situation we will never forget. <br />He and his wife will continue to see all of you as much as possible. As your Councilman-At- <br />Large, he and his wife wish all of you their fondest farewells. <br />N1r. Diemert and Mayor Rinker extended best wishes to Mark. <br />COTRNIENTS FROM MAYOR RII-?YXR' <br />Mayor Rinker said we have two officers who took rigorous exaininations for Police Sergeant and <br />he is pleased to administer oaths of office to them: Richard Edelman and Richard Whitehead. <br />Mayor Rinker administered oaths of office to Richard Edelman and Richard Whitehead as Police <br />Sergeants. <br />Terry Santoro (in the audience), a member of he Activities and Recreation committees, said she <br />is employed at JC Penney. They have commended her for her volunteer work. She has a check <br />made out to Mayfield Village that she would like to give to Sgt. Whitehead for the D.A.R.E. <br />program. <br />1VIrs. Santoro presented the check to Sgt. Whitehead. <br />Mayor Rinker said these are two officers who have shown great dedication to the police <br />department, to Mayfield Village, they exemplify service to their community and the <br />professionalism Mr. Fixler just talked about. Rick Whitehead has been involved in the D.A.R.E. <br />program for 5 y_ears. It has been a Village program for 9 years and has been a very productive, <br />positive program. Officer Edelman has been very much involved with the Detective <br />I3epartmenf. These are two very intelligent, highly motivated, dedicated people. As we look to <br />the future we can see that the Police Department and Mayfield Village are in good hands. <br />COMMENTS FROM COUNCIL PRESIDENT MARQUARDT <br />Council President Marquardt said he will certainly miss NIr. Fixler on Council. Mr. Fixler has <br />always shown the highest interest for Mayfield Village and has been of value to Council for his <br />business experience. As a neighbor, he will be sorry to see him go. <br />DEPARTMENT HEAD REPORTS <br />Mr. Metzung requested that his two additional employees for the Service Department be added <br />to tonight's agenda. He is working with the Metroparks to help clean the Beaver dams from
