Regular Council Meeting
5/?/95
Page Fourteen
First Reading of Resolution No. 95-24 entitled; "A resolution of commendation to
William Lauffer retiring principal from the Center School." Introduced by Mayor
Rinker and Council as a Whole.
Mayor Rinker said Bill Lauffer, Center School principal, is retiring. There will be a
special event for him on Sunday. He thinks it is appropriate to present a resolution
to him to acknowledge all his contributions to the school.
Mrs. Cinco, seconded by Mr. Flynn, made a motion to adopt Resolution No. 95-24.
Roll Call: AYES: All
NAYS: None Motion Carried
Resolution Adopted
First Reading of Ordinance No. 95-24 entitled; "An emergency ordinance
establishing a"Sewer Relief Fund." Introduced by Mayor Rinker and Council as a
Whole.
Mr. Fixler said they will have some discussion this evening; they can't suspend or
vote because they don't have 5 members of Council here. The question "what about
the future" was raised earlier. Mr. Fixler said they haven't worked all the criteria for
this fund out yet. They have decided they are going ahead with the fund this year.
As far as how the fund will be administered and what steps they can take to bind
future Councils; that still needs to be addressed. What we are doing this evening is
creating the fund, so it is a fund we can talk about. We can say there is now a sewer
relief fund and currently, in 1995, we are putting $100,000 into it at this time. This
will be added onto in the near future as soon as they work everything out. Mr.
Fixler said he will be at the sewer meeting tomorrow night and will give them
copies of the legislation; they should keep in mind the legislation will be changed.
First Reading of Ordinance No 95-26 entitled; "An emergency ordinance
authorizing the purchase of three (3) white 1995 Crown Victorias for the Police
Department. Introduced by Mayor Rinker and Council as a Whole.
Mr. Fixler said on December 19, 1994, Council actually had a motion to authorize the
expenditure of $66,800 to purchase 4 vehicles. If there is any miscommunication, he
apologizes. The problem this evening is you are about to take delivery of these
vehicles tomorrow and we don't have five members here this evening to authorize
this. He asked Mr. Diemert for his advice.
