Regular Council Meeting
5/15/95
Page Two
thinks many of the problems, or what may have been perceived to be problems,
have been resolved. T'his body, along with the Mayor, is ready to act on certain
issues this evening. Now, residents are coordinating with us to make sure we
receive the Issue II funds and any other funding projects that can help defray some
of these costs. Mr. Fixler said he believes their help will be very invaluable. Council
and the Mayor look forward to working with residents to alleviate some of the
financial burden of these projects.
Council President Fixler asked Mr. Hovancsek to introduce some of the public
officials who were in attendance.
Mr. Hovancsek introduced Mr. John Januska of the Ohio EPA.
Mr. anuska, said he has been with the Ohio EPA for twenty-seven years. He is an
Engineer. This is a badly needed project. He knows most of you (in the audience)
have septic tanks. Septic systems don't work very well. Septic systems will not treat
much more than about 50% of the waste. Septic tanks are temporary and should
certainly not be used in a permanent setting. When they do discharge, they are a ,
problem.
Mayor Rinker asked the other officials to stand up:
Jim Brueggeman, Cuyahoga County Sanitary Engineer and Ruth Langser.
Rick Novickis and Donna Childs of the Cuyahoga County Board of Health.
Mr. Flynn, seconded by Mrs. Cinco, made a motion to amend the agenda to discuss
the North County Trunk Line.
Roll Call: AYES: All
NAYS: None Motion Carried
Agenda Amended
Mayor Rinker said we will make copies of the legislation available to the officials
and the residents.
Mayor Rinker read excerpts from Resolution No. 95-20 imploring Federal and State
agencies to assist the Village of Mayfield in obtaining Federal monies for mandated
sewer improvements in the northern part of the Village.
Mayor Rinker said we felt we would appropriate $100,000. We know there are other avenues we want to explore (the CDBG programs, etc.). This is the first step.
