Regular Council Meeting
7/20/95
Page 13
Mayor Rinker said he spoke with Mr. Schulte after the meeting and asked him to
put that back into the Workshop for discussion.
Recreation Board - Mr. Buckholtz said they ran the Debbie Hudacko Memorial
Scholarship Run on July 9. It was a tremendous success; there were more than 200
runners. Softball is running with great success. Gus is doing a great job taking care
of Center School. They will be meeting Wednesday to talk to the coaches about
doing better clean up. The drainage seems to be holding. He understands we have a
Volleyball Court; we are waiting for a special net that will be here soon. They will be
trying to get some volleyball leagues going.
Sewer Liaison Committee - Mr. Buckholtz said there were problems with people
picking up their notices. He plans to deliver those himself. His neighbors are
chomping at the bit to get on committees. He expressed thanks to Gus Amendola
and staff (George Ballash, Gino DeLuca and Mike Schaeffer) for their assistance
following the storm. They were out until past midnight helping with the flooding.
Liquor Permit Request - Revco - Mr. Diemert said this is for a transfer from 830
S.O.M. Center Road to 779 S.O.M. Center Road.
There were no objections.
Nextel Communications - Council President Fixler said two representatives from
Nextel (Aaron Walker and Ron Joseph) are here regarding the situation he made
everyone aware of at the last meeting. From the communication he has had with
them, Mr. Fixler said they have pretty much agreed on most of the items. He was
not particularly pleased with the leasing arrangements--he needs more detail on
that. Mr. Fixler said they want to construct a 120' tower that is basically a little over
5' higher than we have. They will pay for the construction of the tower; they will
pay for the digging underground; they will run our current line to the Fire Station.
We will be able to lease out some of our space. We are looking at a long-term
agreement in excess of 30 years. They will construct a pad. He asked the
representatives to explain anything they want Council to know. Council President
Fixler addressed one of the representatives of Nextel and said that he had indicated
to him that he thought Nextel would give Mayfield Village $10,000 in lieu of future
rent that perhaps that would be acceptable. We are looking at a 30-year situation;
that did not seem like an equitable situation as far as Mayfield Village was
concerned.
