Regular Council Meeting
7/20/95
Page 14
Mr. Walker said they would propose, in lieu of having a shelter, to offer a monthly
rent to occupy the space.
Ron Joseph said they have no maintenance and they pay their utilities directly.
They could see what a comparable square footage would be and possibly pay
something like that.
Council President Fixler asked if all of Council was clear on this. The rent factor was
the sticky part as far as he was concerned. If they are willing to go with square
footage as far as the real estate in the area and if that is acceptable to everyone, he
suggests the Legal Department work up an agreement with the organization. They
are 100% responsible for the maintenance of the tower. They will not only
maintain the tower but will also maintain Mayfield Village's connection on that
tower.
Mayor Rinker said the general idea is to try to establish something we can all work
with. Mayor Rinker said it will be a 120' mounted pole to be utilized for cellular
communications and Mayfield Village public safety communications. Generally
speaking, our belief is that Nextel will be responsible for material, labor cost,
installation of the pole and foundation base, provide the test underground
communication tables, provide equipment, pole antennas, equip the pole, provide
antennas, new cable connections for our stand, local simplex radio communications
for the Service Department, the Lake County 800 public safety radio system, a mast
for weather instruments to be run, potential connections to the two municipal
buildings by running underground conduit if the school allows it, electrical lighting
equipment...this is a pretty comprehensive package. Mayor Rinker said Chief Mohr
has spoken very favorably about it. Mayor Rinker said Mr. Fixler has reiterated that
the Chief has expressed some concern about the rent, Mr. Diemert has had some
experience in other communities.
Mr. Johnson said they will have antennas on a tower, they are putting the tower up,
but then they also have to put the electronic equipment somewhere. They are
talking about where do they put it--they can put a shelter and make it look like the
Fire Station outside or they could go in the basement and make a reasonable rent
payment.
Mr. Flynn asked what he estimates to have the tower complete--the tower, the pad--
everything?
Mr. Johnson said they would have to look at the soil conditions, but he would guess
it is about $100,000.
