Regular Council Meeting
7/17/95
Page 21
Council President Fixler said he will not force a vote this evening. He said we will
notify Mr. Zingale when it comes up on the agenda.
Deacon's - Jim Deacon said they are talking about getting two lots rezoned. He wants
everyone to know they are not here to ruffle feathers. They have been in that location
since 1963. He explained that they have been under a lot of pressure from Chrysler
Corporation. Their existing showroom was built in the 1920's. They have a proposal
for a new building that would satisfy Chrysler, but in order to do so, they need a little bit
more storage space. He was a little disappointed in the Zoning meeting. He, along with
about 10 residents, received a letter that they were going to have a Planning and Zoning
Workshop Meeting. He said they are in the infancy stages of this; he did not expect a
vote at all tonight. He wanted to present what they have. They have already spent
about $4,000 in landscaping along Wilson Mills. They have hired Andrew Sparks, a
registered Landscape Architect. He thinks being in the center of town, they would like
their corner across the street to fit in with the gazebo, etc. He thinks they can do this
project and still have it fit in, aesthetically, with the Village. Mr. Deacon said this
would have to go the ballot someday if it ever can. At earliest, they are talking about
next spring. He would like to sit down with Larry and the other neighbors. We want
everybody's input. We want to be proud of it when it is done. He would like that to be
on the Workshop agenda probably for August, September, October and sit down and
have a Workshop. He asked Mr. Sparks to give a preliminary explanation of what has
come up. [The model is inside Deacon's showroom if anyone wants to see it.]
Mr. Sparks has extra drawings if anyone wants copies. He showed and explained the
drawing (which existing plants and trees would stay--proposed new landscaping;
changes in ingress and egress points; the front of the building would drop back 20' from
where it is now so there is more landscape space there.)
Council President Fixler asked Mr. Ferrante to make sure this item is on the next
Planning and Zoning Commission Workshop agenda.
Mayor Rinker said he would like to have better communication to the people. He
asked the Landscape Architect to be present at the meeting.
Mr. Basile asked if they were using the residential lot on Wilson Mills Road for storage.
Discussion was held.
?? ?
