355
Regular Council Meeting , -
9/18/95
Page 9
OPEN PORTION - 3 minute limit imposed by Chair. Those who wish to speak
must first state their name and address. This open portion is limited to discussion
pertaining to the items under "Old Business" only.
There were no comments.
?
M NE"LI?INESS'
M Dry Weather Overflows - Mr. Cappello said 4 contractors placed proposals. They sent
Q the Village a letter with the contractors listed in the order they think they should be
z contacted in case of an emergency to any sanitary structures which would cause sewage
? to spill into streams.
Hvgrade Painting - Mr. Brett said this is the last contract on the Fire Station.
,
Council President Fixler asked if all the bugs have been worked out with the prevailing
wages.
Mr. Brett said there had been an objection from the painting union because there have
been some problems with the successful bidder. It was the recommendation of
construction manager to proceed. We will make sure to scrutinize their prevailing
wages more closely.
Chief Mohr said Mr. Dunlop said all is in order. Chief Mohr said he agrees to adding a
contingency regarding the prevailing wages.
Mayor Rinker said we can make it an express provision that this be resolved
satisfactorily per the recommendation of the Construction Manager and our Law
Department so that Council is secure in the knowledge that there is no question as to
the propriety of the work that is being done. The contingency would be strictly to that
specific issue [of prevailing wages].
Rock Salt - Council President Fixler said they received information in their packets and
asked Mr. Amendola if he had information to share.
Mr. Amendola said we got our papers back from the State; we do have a price
quotation. If he understands it correctly, we still use the 60-40 percentage.
Mr. Brett said we are required by law to purchase 60% of our rock salt from the State
vendor.
